This July we celebrate Ernest Thokane as our Butterfly of the Month. During his learnership, Ernest has been hosted at Progression and has become a valued member of our team.
Ernest is currently completing his Business Administration NQF 3 learnership. While at Progression, he has taken on the role of Recruitment Assistant under his team leader, Farhana Hassam. “Ernest is mainly responsible for calling and booking candidates to come in for our weekly assessments. He is a very polite and professional individual who always follows processes. If he is unsure about anything, he will ask to get clarity and I hardly find myself needing to repeat anything. He has lots of spreadsheets and also comes up with many suggestions on how to improve processes. It is truly a pleasure having him in my team and working with him,” says Farhana.
Ernest delights in being part of our Recruitment Department as “understanding how recruitment companies operate” has always interested him.
Ernest’s positive attitude towards the learnership programme has contributed towards his success. He advises other learners to “stay positive and committed to both the practical and theoretical training because attitude matters!”
Managing the department’s mailbox, learning how to draft a well written CV and working with people with disabilities are some of Ernest’s biggest accomplishments while on his learnerships. In addition, this learnership has shown Ernest the “importance of having good communication with other people and sharing your ideas with one another.”
